It’s not only quick and easy to prepare, but also satisfies your sweet tooth without the guilt. This sugar-free chocolate mousse is one of many keto friendly dessert recipes that we’ve put together and it’s easily one of our faveorites!
The Ingredients
This keto recipe uses only 3 ingredients:
- Heavy Whipping Cream (or double cream if you’re in the UK).
- Cococa Powder. To find a keto cocoa powder, find one that is 100% cocoa and free from added sugar or maltodextrin. If possible I do recommend using a dutch-process cocoa powder as this retains a more chocolately flavour.
- Cream cheese. This helps create a smoother texture but adds a bit of a tang to the flavour as well. Plus its a good source of fats to help you meet your macros.
Why Make This Low Carb Mousse?
Low in Calories: Despite its luxurious taste, this low calorie chocolate mousse won’t derail your diet. It’s an ideal option for those watching their calorie intake while enjoying a delightful dessert.

Keto Chocolate Mousse
Equipment
- 1 Electric Whisk
- 2 Mixing Bowls
- 4 Ramekins or glass dishes for serving
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream In the UK? Use 1 cup (237ml) Double Cream
- 6 Oz Cream Cheese Tip: If time allows, make sure your cream cheese is at room temperature. This will make it easier to blend and ensure a smooth texture.
- 1/3 Cup Dutch-Process Cocoa Powder Using normal cocoa powder is ok, but dutch-process retains more of the chocolately flavour
Optional
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Topping Ideas
- Fresh berries, crushed nuts, or keto-friendly ice cream
Instructions
Blend Cream Cheese and Cocoa Powder
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and keto cocoa powder. Use an electric mixer or a whisk to blend until smooth and well incorporated.
Whip the Heavy Cream
- In a separate large mixing bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream. Using an electric mixer, beat the cream on medium-high speed until it forms stiff peaks. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
Combine and Chill
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese and cocoa powder mixture. Be careful not to deflate the whipped cream; fold until well combined and smooth. If you are adding vanilla extract, add this during this step.
Serve and Enjoy
- Once chilled, serve the mousse as is, or top with your favorite keto-friendly toppings such as fresh berries, a sprinkle of extra cocoa powder, or a few shavings of dark chocolate.
